Spiderman: Edge of Time and X Men: Destiny get Pre-Order bonuses
Two video game adaptations of popular comic book franchises are set to jump on the Pre-Order incentive bandwagon. Spiderman: Edge of Time and X Men: Destiny are both set to feature their own respective Pre-Order deals to entice gamers to book their copy
of the game early.
The move came after the publisher of both games, Activision, decided to team up with one of the largest video game retailers in the United States of America, GameStop, in what is fast becoming an industry wide norm of rewarding the early birds (gamers who
Pre-Order) with pre-caught worms (in-game extras and rewards).
One would think that Activision would be focusing all its effort on the upcoming Call of Duty game, Modern Warfare 3, especially after Battlefield 3 looks like the first serious competition the game has had to face for some time. Yet, the studio seem confident
enough to spread their attention and their marketing team across their many different projects.
Jumping off a New York skyscraper and web slinging things off with Spiderman: Edge of Time, Activision have announced a number of alternate costumes for Spiderman to wear, each with its own set of abilities and powers.
There are four costumes which will be available to early birds, as Spiderman will be able to choose from the Prodigy costume, which grants player the ability to deal out increased amounts of damage. The Hornet costume, which apart from making Spidey look
slightly silly, will boost the rate at which Spiderman’s shield will regenerate itself.
Bettor.com’s favourite costume however, is the Ricochet, which apart from looking cool, will allow players, who opt to use it, the ability to regenerate their health faster. But mostly because it looks cool.
Lastly, Spiderman fans will also be able to get their hands on the all-black (literally!) Dusk costume, which will give the player an increased amount of health.
The four costumes are something that only the most hardcore Spiderman fans will consider a must have, while others will most probably wait for the inevitable post-launch DLC pack to add them to their collection.
Spiderman: Edge of Time is scheduled for a release later this year on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with the 25th of October the official date.
On the other hand, X Men: Destiny will be releasing sometime around September -no official release date has been given by Activision at this point- on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with its own set of alternate costumes.
Adrian, Grant and Aimi will all have the Havok suits, which will allow them to do more damage over time as they stun enemies using plasma energy, which the suit is designed to use as a weapon.
While the Spiderman Pre-Order incentives sound more enticing at this point, a lot can change over the next few months leading up the games’ release. Bettor.com will have more news on both games as when it is made available.
