Spiders in Australia?

Sorry if this is a dumb question but im new to OZ and have quite a lot of redbacks outside my front door, ive squashed a few but how do i get rid of them for good. We have a 5 month old baby and 3 other kids under 12 and i also have 2 dogs i dont want anyone or my animals biten. Please help. Thanx

  1. Hello I used to stay in oz but returned back to NZ, I know you can go down to your local pet shop and buy baits for them, have to be careful for white tails also that live in the gardens there, quite common. And huntsmans aww hated those ugly scary looking things.


  2. they like warm, dark, sheltered areas. eg underneath outdoor furniture, corners behind things in the garage etc. you can get a professional pest control company to come and spray for the redbacks. they will spray everywhere in and around the house. at this time of the year you cannot be sure to get rid of all of them. there will still the odd one here and there. just check your chairs, bikes etc before using them if you are worried. be sure to keep on top of things by cleaning up once a week and checking everywhere. destroying webs when you see them so that you dont have to worry too much about the kids playing outside.

  3. Poison?? Insect spray?? Bait??

    You could find out what kind of environment redbacks live in. Then alter your environment so that they won't be so attracted to that area.
