Question:

Spiders in Paris?

So, I'm going to study abroad in Paris for 5 months. I will be living by myself and I have a HUGE fear of spiders. This sounds like a really dumb question and I was just wondering if anyone has lived in Paris before and have seen lots of bugs/rodents in their buildings? I'll be living basically on the top floor.

  1. Not that I recall...

I only know there were lots of insects at the beach.

    You should be fine.

They don't have many bugs there.

    Have fun ; )

  2. There are crowds of spiders in France and they do not shave under armpitts -

  3. Get some spider traps and you might get over your fear by seeing them dead. Something like that.

  4. Much of Paris is quite ancient construction and there are many buildings that are hundreds of years old. Mice are fairly common.

There are a variety of spiders that tend to be found indoors or which live on the exterior of builings but sometimes wander inside but they are generally harmless.

Species found in or around Parisian buildings include Scytodidae (the so called spitting spider), Uloboridae (Cribellate spider), Pholcidae, Theridiidae (scaffold spider), Agelenidae (funnel weaver), and Linyphiidae (sheet web spider).
