Spike TV to air two undercards for UFC 121
In addition to the UFC 121’s main cards, including the much-awaited Lesnar-Velasquez bout, two middleweight preliminary cards will also be featured. For sure, the two undercards will also be as exciting and intense as the main cards will be.
The said preliminaries will feature Court McGee vs. Ryan Jensen and Patrick Cote vs. Tom Lawlor. UFC fans definitely know Cote, Lawlor and McGee as they all have been standout contestants on different seasons of the reality show “The Ultimate Fighter.”
Patrick Cote and Tom Lawlor will heat things up as they make the first bout of the night. This fight will be a make or break opportunity for the two fighters as they both desperately need a win. Cote and Lawlor both suffered  consecutive losses on their previous fights.
A native of Quebec, Canada, Patrick Cote was defeated by Anderson Silva on UFC 90 last 2008. This disappointing loss also left him with an injured knee and gave him some time away from the Octagon. He returned last May, but his comeback wasn’t as good as he expected – Alan Belcher dispatched him by way of a Rear Naked Choke. Prior to these losses, Cote, who also became a finalist on The Ultimate Fighter 4, made a five-win streak, wherein he defeated many big names including Ricardo Almeida, Jason Day, Scott Smith, Kendall Grove and Drew McFedries. The 30-year old Cote holds an overall record of 19-6, and this time, hopes to revive his career.
Meanwhile, Tom Lawlor has just met a similar fate to Cote. Though Lawlor is known by the UFC fans for his charismatic and lively character, his past two fights weren’t lively and charismatic at all. After losing to Aaron Simpson last January on UFC Fight Night 20, he managed to book himself on another fight last May. However, he wasn’t fortunate enough to steer clear of Joe Doerkensen’s devastating Rear Naked Choke. Holding a record of 6-3, his wins came by way of either submission or KOs. Just like Cote, Lawlor was a finalist for The Ultimate Fighter 8 and known for his wrestling and grappling skills.
The Cote-Lawlor bout will give the fighters a chance to get their careers back on track, but only one of them will step out of the cage victorious.
On the second middleweight match-up, Court McGee and Ryan Jensen will continue the already heated action. This is going to be yet another impressive fight as the MMA vet Jensen takes on The Ultimate Fighter winner McGee.
Hailing from Omaha, Nebraska, Jensen started his career when he was 15. Though he already fought for other tough events during his early years, he had a disappointing debut on UFC last 2007 – a submission from Thales Leites. However, his experience taught him well as he is known for his KOs and submissions. His record stands at 15-6, and his recent victory over Jesse Forbes last May earned him the Submission of the Night Award. Now, he is planning to continue his win-streak as he takes on McGee.
Court McGee, on the other hand, seems to be an aggressive opponent. Though he only entered the MMA business in 2007, his overall record is 10-1. Fighting out of California, McGee is a native of Ogden, Utah, who is a formidable wrestler. Similar to Jensen, McGee had made a name for other promotions, too.  But his UFC career had just started. Following his victory last June on the Ultimate Fighter 11, McGee is now on his road to stardom. Should he manage to defeat Jensen, he will prove to everyone that he has a place in the business.
