  1. Baitcasters indeed! I used to use spinning gear, but the line twist is a pain, the bail closing unexpectedly on casts or moving on hooksets was also a pain.

I love my Daiwa Viento and TD Zillion "burner" for all day tournament fishing, and even just kicking it with friends and family at the lake too.

As mentioned, heavier lines, super smooth casts (less the occasional backlash), flippin', precision casts, no line twist, and winching the big ones in. :D

  2. Spinning for lighter lures, and baitcasters for spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and heavier lures.

  3. it really depends.i use a spinner. its a shimano 2000. and my pole is a berkley cherrywood graphite, a 6 foot medium spinner. thats what it says for the specs on it.

for a bait caster my dad uses a pflueger supreme reel and a shimano clarus rod thats 6 feet and has a medium power on it and a fast action. its a nice baitcaster.use spinners on windy days, and visa versa.

  4. I use spinning because they are usually a lot stronger espesialy if you are going to catch the big one

  5. well in most situations i perfer baitcasting because you can hold more stronger line and still make long casts.  but for finnese tactics such as a drop shot rig or shaky head rig i perfer to use spinning gear with lighter line wich is more sensitive less visible under water.

  6. personally I prefer to use baitcasters for bass fishing. The thing I like about them is the fact that you can use a lot stronger line and still have the good castability. Also, you have a lot less line twist and less brasion on the line being pulled through the bail on your spincast reels.

However, I do have a couple of spincast that I like to use for pitching into heavy cover where a high precision cast is neccesary to keep from getting hung up on something. Both reels have their advantages. I like to make sure I can take advantage of both.
