Spirit cruise, The Ancient Voyage. Novo Virus ? UK, Europe?

My Mum & Dad have just come back from a cruise holiday, The ship was called "Spirit" & the trip was called "The Ancient Voyage" They picked up a virus on the ship called Novo Virus it seems this was on board the week before & nothing was done about it.

There were a few hundred others on board who contracted the virus, the 1st place they were supposed to disembark was Malta but the captain said the seas were too high. Most people thought it was more likely to be the fact that they would have made contact 1st with Malta & had to explain about the virus & they did not want it to come off the ship so to speak. My parents did say the staff were constantly wiping down with some sort of spray & everyone had to wash their hands in a wash solution.

The dates the holiday took place were - 16th...27th April...07

"nothing was done about it" and "the staff were constantly wiping down with some sort of spray and everyone had to wash their hands in a wash solution" are mutually exclusive statements - its either one or the other!

The novo virus is a hightly contagious 'stomach bug' that is spread by poor hygene (not washing hands etc) once it is on a ship it is very hard to get it off again - but rest assured the ships crew would have been doing EVERYTHING in their power to do so - not least as they will also face the chance of catching it too.

As for missing Malta, the virus is highly unlikley to have been the cause. Ive had the misfortune of being on ships with the virus (or derivatives of the same) and were never turned away from any port. Even tho they did not go there, they would have informed the Maltese authority about the illness onboard as that is a legal requirement to do so.

Personally the biggest surprise is that they did not cancel the cruise and return to the home port some days early, as has happened to myself if things were as bad as you say.

As you come across as a lawyer preparing a class action, that situation would be far more likley to have a case for compensation ;)
