In the final battle, Daren overpowered his talented opponent Viktor Axelsen of Denmark who also played terrific badminton throughout the contest.
The World Number 24 Daren, who was an un-seeded player in the tournament, played with remarkable speed and passion all the way and grabbed Men’s Singles title to prove that he has stepped into the highest class of badminton.
On the other hand, Axelsen failed to put up strong show as he could not create gaps in his rival’s court at crucial stages and eventually lost the battle without proving his impressive skills on court.
Daren performed extremely well from the opening rallies of first set as he played with spectacular speed and grabbed the control of the game without showing any respect to his opponent.
The tremendous speed and flawless game plan assisted Daren to put his rival in all sorts of problem on court at the initial stage of opening game.
Malaysian shuttler did not show any sign of slowing down his speed and remained in complete control of rallies until the end of first half when he was in a strong position.
After the mid-game interval, the in-form Daren stayed completely focused in the arena and remained successful in keeping a reasonable distance on score board.
Daren remained consistent in hitting powerful shots in an accurate manner and eventually took the first game with a superb total of 21-18.
In the second game, Axelsen was again in problem as he received a cruel treatment from his Malaysian rival who was aggressive in his approach.
Until the end of first part, the lofty Daren sailed smoothly as he played in a commanding fashion and stayed ahead on the board.
Daren’s planned and positive play in the concluding part assisted him to claim the second set with a superb margin of 21-17.
