You all sit there clutching your bibles, covering your eyes and ears when anyone with evidence against its teachings appear. Now when you are trying to explain away all the atrocities of the world your last bastion of ignorance is that "god dosen't step in because he would be destroying free will", so you all claim that now god dosen't appear to smight people because he would provide us with a reason to believe. But your all important saviour had no free will, he was sent to earth to die for you.

And whats more, you cannot have free will if the future is already determined. And the future must already be determined in order to have prophecy.

So, how can you still follow this rubbish?

  1. Alright man don't call it rubbish cause regardless whether you agree with it or not, others do so respect yo. I've always wondered that and honestly the only thing I can come up with is that prophecy is not specific to one person, its something in general, therefore, it can happen. As far as free-will goes, you have the option to do one thing or the other, but there's consequences. For instance, the prophecy is that you can either go to Heaven or go to h**l right? so you either choose the right path or you choose the wrong one, and then depending on that, either prophecy will be achieved....follow??

  2. Your logic is flawed.   Knowing the ultimate outcome does not equal mind control.

Jesus said to His Father "I delight to do your will"   He had a choice.

Why the nonsensical prefix "Spiritually Speaking"?

  3. Jesus did have free will, and He chose to die in exchange for grace for all that would accept His gift.  If He didn't have free will, He wouldn't have prayed for strength to carry out God's will in the garden of Gethsemane shortly before allowing himself to be crucified.

  4. Jesus did have a free will, but he chose to die for your sins.

One of the last things he said before he was crucifed was "not my will, but yours be done"

When he was tempted by satan in the dessert he could have chosen to sin, but then our sins wouldn't have been covered.

  5. Darling, you sound confused ... but to answer your question, Jesus had free will.

  6. I would have to disagree with you, because although God sent Jesus to die for us he didn't force him to, he asked him to and Jesus made a personal choice. And also if you read stories in the bible concerning Jesus. Jesus Christ never forced anyone to believe in him he only approached people who were ready to open up to him, for example the lady with the five husbands. She could of just ignored him at the well but she didn't because she was looking for something more, and Jesus knew that.

  8. I guess that would classify you as a fool.

  9. Your question and statements are based on predisposition, so there is no need to even bother answering you, as you will not "hear" anything a Christian has to say about it.  In other words, your mind is already made up...so why ask?

  10. “No man takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself.  I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.  This commandment have I received of my Father.”

    (John.10:18)

Christianity is voluntary, and just as Christ tells us here, that He had the right to choose, and so He did; He chose to deny His will, and submit to the Father´s will; this same choice has every professing Christian.

  11. I share your frustration with the Ignorant Capt Nebula. Allow me to explain what is going on with the Christian Orthodox views.

First off, they have been given a false doctrine to follow and got it wrong when they even followed that.

This doctrine is not the true nature of reality. What they are being told is that within the cosmos, their Very Narrowed views are the truth without exception and this is a major inaccuracy in reality.

The orthodox Christian view is a new one according to world religions. It is so new it recently came out within the past 2000 years; there are many religions that go back many mellinia before that that are more open and intellignet views with emphasis on self improvement as opposed to a fear based belief system.

Jesus was real, make no mistake, yet he was not the "savior" Christians dwell on like a crutch. Jesus was the first of mankind to ascend to God's realm by finding God was "one of them"' "my father and I are one and the same", a clue.

God is not one to be worshipped so much as admired, there is a difference. God is the first, the one creator and dwells within each personality. He is hidden by your views alone of God and self and the more Self exploration one has, well, one, like Jesus wll find that God was always inside of himself and not belonging to One Church as the Orthodox Christians claim.

Imagine that, One Church, Built by Mans Ego, claiming God has a special place for them alone?

Now tell me Mr. Ego is not hard at work here?

  12. The future is predetermined by the Father Who freely decides for Jesus everything that His Son must do - so prophecy exists too. Injustice comes to God's creatures because God sees fit to punish us for the sins that He made us fall into. Its up to God if He sees fit to punish us. He is fair and impartial about it - He also turns each creature away from sin and saves us all and favours us eventually. So where's the problem with that?

  13. Of course everyone has free will.  And God is not a genie that grants wishes in times of crisis.  If that is over your head, sorry.  Perhaps you are being intentionally obtuse.

  14. is the point of this question to get people to say "you're right, we're stupid for believing in the bible"? its always baffled me as to why people try so hard to slam Christianity. do you want everyone to believe exactly what you believe? would that make you happy? i don't mind people asking questions about my religion but when the blatantly go all out to insult, disrespect and discredit it and its followers then i get offended. which is probably what you wanted. but i'll try answer your question anyways. jesus was god in man. simple as that.

  15. Jesus is show as not wanting to do it.

Mark 14:35 Going a little farther(into Gethsemane), he(Jesus) fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from him. "Abba, Father," He said, "everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but you will."

Jesus was literally begging God the Father to take this task from Him. However, He still did His Father's will because this was the only way.

Jesus had free will, but He also had to follow instruction from His heavenly Father.  It's like saying a soldier has no free will because he has to follow the commands of his officers.

  16. I would suggest you actually sit down with a person of faith and really talk to them about why they believe what they believe. This forum can not possibly give you a factual picture of what Christianity is or stands for. Some of your comments are obviously due to misunderstanding the most basic concepts of our faith. I noticed also, that you have taken a single passage without knowing the history in order to shore up your opinion. Some Christians do that as well, but hopefully there are a few of us around that know the whole story rather than just concentrate on one or two verses. But either way, this forum is not able (for either side) to give an accurate depiction of our beliefs.

  17. Jesus had little to do with the New Testament, which was all written after his death. Jesus was a revolutionary. He was peed off with the high and mighty ways of the Priests. He could well have been the model which inspired Che Guevara, had Che really understood that the first recorded socialist revolutionary was Jesus.

Christianity came later, invented by 'St.' Paul, who never even met Jesus.

Free will? Yes, and he spoke his mind.

  18. Jesus was god son.

Spiritually speaking The Farther Son & Holy Spirit are all one

  19. Nice, I agree! What about dino's, where are they mentioned in the bible, and early types of humans, extinctions of species and ice ages etc. etc. Peopele are just scared to die and need something to believe in, I dont hold that against them if they leave me alone.

  20. I BELIEVE IN JESUS

  21. You are right about the free will of Jesus, because Jesus was God in the flesh and Jesus even said, I only do what I see my Father doing.

In the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus replied to God about the cup of evil that He was about to take which was your sins and mine and the sins of the entire world past, present and future plus diseases which are nothing but sin manifested.  Jesus replied, not my will, but Your will be done.  Jesus was talking about his will as a man even though Jesus was God in the flesh, he was the God man.  The Bible speaks of Jesus as the Branch in the Old Testament . . . the Branch of God that God was sending.  Jesus was that portion of God that can be seen, because God is Spirit and consuming fire also.

Just because God knows the end from the beginning does not mean that God didn't give mankind free will.  We are still living in time, but God has already known time and He has gone out of time.  God even tells us that a day with the Lord is as a thousand years.  God says that His way is higher than our way.  We don't know all that God knows or how God lets us choose or reject Christ and still predict the future.

It is like an old spool of film.  You can fast forward and see the end before the beginning.  But God lives outside of this realm of time.  To God our time has already ran its course even though we are still going through it.  Apostle Paul called it "running the race."

Revelation 4:11 states that we are created for God's pleasure.  God knows how we have played out our roles in life already.  While we are running out time, He is preparing a glorious place for us if we will only believe in Christ Jesus.

The Word of God is the only truth in this world.  God said heaven and earth can pass but His Word will not pass away.

  22. I knew you'd say that!

  23. The Bible makes a heck of a lot more sense then this rubbish you are spouting.

  24. Bryan H said it best.

  25. I am not clutching anything, honest. What if I told you  YOU were chosen to come to the earth at this time, as one of the more intelligent and faithful of his children in the preexistence?  You ignored your conscience as many of you do which was your guiding light, and you chose the path you are on, it was your agency.

When Christ came to earth, just like you , he had to find, figure out, claim his rights, just the same as you.  He chose his roll.  I will admit he was put in the best family God could find, and was more intelligent that us.  But he worked out his salvation just like us.  He discovered his roll for the race of men and fulfilled it.  You might not think but you have a purpose and it is known by God way before you came here, just like him.  Whether you believe that does not matter, truth is truth.

  26. first... Jesus chose to come here... He loves us just as much as God does and for every lost soul His heart ached... He decided to come and give His life in exchange for ours... DON'T BE CONFUSED... He loved us and wanted to do this... Secondly... our journey is free will... but our journey ultimately ends according to God's original plan, IF we choose it..... God already knows what choices we will make... no matter the battle that goes on in our heads about what to do... He already knows what we will decide... He is the God Almighty, Creator of all things.... you are only here because He decided for you to be here... again... Don't be confused...

  27. He did have free will.  His atonement and crucifixion would have had no meaning if he hadn't lived a perfect life using His free will.

The future is NOT already determined, from our perspective, it is visible to God, because to Him it has already happened, or more accurately, everything, past and present, is still currently happening.

  28. They will only give it up when it is proved to be false. In the meantime us atheists are safe in our stance. We have no reason to believe.

  29. Let me clarify just a little...

We, as LDS, believe Christ DID have free will - He actually CHOSE to come here, be the Savior, suffer for our sins and ultimately be the pure sacrifice for sin.  He loves us THAT much.  How?  I have no clue.  I know I would die for my child, but probably not my neighbor's child... we can't understand that kind of love.  So we DO believe He actually CHOSE it, I do not believe for a milli-second that He was forced.

Also, the claim you make that the future is already determined... that's not exactly accurate.  The "future" is KNOWN already by God.  He already knows what we will choose in this life, He already knows who will be with Him in the Celestial Kingdom, BUT He still wanted us all to have our opportunities here, to become like Him.  Even those in the lowest degree of "heaven" - which is the Telestial Kingdom - are still inheriting a type of heaven.  I don't believe God would doom us to an eternity of "h**l"... He loves us way more than that.

We still have our agecny, just because God already knows what we are going to do with our life, doesn't mean He is taking our agency away.  He can't.  It isn't possible.  If He did that, He would cease to be God.  Few people actually understand the nature of God, that is why there is so much confusion.

  30. 1Corinthians 1:18  For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

  31. Jesus definitely had free will. Jesus was not born of man (Adam) but born of God as he is the Son that is before Creation.

Jesus Christ and salvation is predestined your individual life is not.
