I just wonder if they would respect the fact that some people share different views and if they would intentionally try to clamp down on these groups. Do you think that they also don't accept atheists as American citizens (like old Bush).

It seems sometimes that the Republicans are more accepting to g**s than to atheists? Am I wrong?

  1. I'm g*y AND Atheist , they will be tougher on me , but I have my AK-47 just in case...

  2. What did Bush ever do to atheists?

This is something I never heard, did I miss the newsletter?

    Please enlighten us.

  3. You'd better believe it when I tell you that the whole world is holding it's breath and hoping that the scary lady and the ancient one fail.

    >>> Great Gig in the Sky FYI: http://www.religioustolerance.org/atheis...

"George H.W. Bush, as presidential nominee for the Republican party; 1987-AUG-27: "No, I don't know that Atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered as patriots. This is one nation under God." "

  4. I don't recall there being any law against atheism, nor a "clamp down" on them at any time. What could the government possibly do to you?

  5. I would imagine after spending several years in a POW camp maintained by some extremely devout atheists John McCain is well aware of the fact that "some people share different views"

However, for the sake of all of us "uninformed" people, could you please provide some evidence of all this so-called "intolerance" by George Bush and this very scary memo that the government sent out? Because from my perspective atheists here have been getting quite a bit of special treatment lately and give every indication that with enough time and political backing they could become just as extreme as those who held McCain prisoner. And that would make your claims a red herring.

  6. great gig on the sky- People cite a statement that George Bush Sr. said about atheists all the time. Something about us being "unpatriotic" and "not deserving to be called citizens". Basically something I'd abhor in a president.

You know, I really want to like Sarah Palin. I just can't. I really can't. And no, I don't really think they'd respect us, Muslims, or anyone of a different religion. This is NOT to say all Christians or Republicans are the same, just that they probably won't.

  7. Hmmm, don't care.  Voting Libertarian.  I'll deal with the question if we lose.

    :)

Seriously, I would hope religious or non-religious freedoms are preserved.  I think it'll actually be BETTER under a McCain/Palin admin. because republicans (most of them) tend to be better about getting involved in other matters of a non-personal nature - they just block future change.  Believe it or not, with the exception of the Bushes, republicans historically stay out of our personal lives better.

  8. They conjure up images of a Godless, liberal (code for Communist) force trying to subvert America from within.  They're dinosaurs I'm telling you, dinosaurs.  Don't get me wrong, they hate g**s too, they just think g**s are limp wrist-ed and harmless when it comes to subversion.

  9. McCain was never seen as some kind of right wing nutcase until he got the republican nomination.

Up until them the press and even many dems considered him pretty dang liberal by republican standards.  They liked him until he became the enemy and then suddenly he was this right wing extremist.

Have no fear.  McCain has never been one to push socalled religious agendas.

    lol

seems many have a very short memory or just parrot what the media claims

McCain has actually helped to author several bills that went against the majority of the republican party, like campaign reform and immigration bills.

He was against the tax cuts because there were no spending cuts.

He is hardly beholden to the whim of the republican party.

McCains priority issues have never been things like g*y marriage.  He probably thinks those issues are just annoying and get in the way of the real issues facing the country.

    Danielle

name a piece of legislation that Bush signed that stripped atheists of any kinds of rights, whatsoever

  10. Sarah Palin is the most hideous former beauty pageant contestant ever, not because of the outside, but because of the rotting, stinking, evil within her.

And I hope beyond hope, for the sake of the world, that the first poster is correct.

  11. Who cares since they wont get elected

  12. let's hope mccain wins over obama.. help him out by voting for him on this page!
