I've never really been into politics; however I did agree with most of Ron Paul's ideals.

  1. Maybe, but as of now I'm doing exactly what I hate about people and just going with Obama and hoping and praying that he's not some illusion.

  2. All politicians are. It's the lesser of two evils, usually.

I liked Ron Paul too...it's a shame he dropped out of the race.

  3. Exactly HOW is this about religion and spirituality?

  4. hmm mccain is actually like mcbush.. I think I like Obama, but I'm scared about him being a sweet talker:(. I strongly believe its time to stop talking and fix our America! We need a hero`

  5. Anyone who runs for President has to be narcissistic enough to think he's better than something like three million people, crazy enough to want the power of running such a freaking scary country in the first place, and even might be a little suicidal.

  6. I'm fairly certain McCain is full of embalming fluid .

  7. Yes. I believe that either of them will bring this country into further ruin, and Americans aren't voting for who's the best, but who's the least bad. I know it's not likely he'll win, but I'm probably voting Bob Barr, who you should research. According to his policies on his website, he's generally in-line with most of the American public. The overturning of political corruption must start with people becoming willing to vote for more than the two main choices they're given. Sadly, Americans are lazy and unwilling to actually research candidates, and just vote based on what they see on the news.

  8. Spiritually speaking of course, Obama's full of more than just baloney.

  9. Two sides of the same coin.

  10. The US has a large government. Libertarians (and most Republicans) do not believe in big government. How can they possibly do something they don't believe in well?

Anyone who has passed enough muster with the corporate US to even run for president is corrupt.

  11. Unfortunately in the US there are only two main parties to vote for - if most people were honest they would have to say some of the issues that both two parties represent have some intrinsic value to it.

But because things are so polarized it makes it hard to to find some middle ground.  I have heard good things about Ron Paul, and it would be nice to see a third party as an alternative to the top two.

  12. Your original premise is sound. Ron Paul's ideas were lacking a touch with reality.

"Spiritually speaking..." What do you mean by that?

Edit: Ron Paul professed the ideas of the 1800's, simply put.

  13. B-A-L-O-N-E-Y...

All religions and politics are baloney, just because their tools to control people ^_^

  14. Politicians in general tend to be two-faced.  It's unfortunate, because the kind of person that seeks out power is usually the last one that should have it.

  15. All politicians are. It's so easy to give a great speech and talk about all kinds of things, but so much of the time it ends up being just talk to please an audience and never turns into action.

Still irritates me that Bush did just that with the "religious right" to get their votes, and I'm not even one of them. He totally played them. And yet some still think he's some kind of  hero.

  16. All politicians are.

    Ron Paul...Libertarian turned Republican

  17. ron paul was pretty awesome.

  18. sorry but ron paul is a looney. but i do agree that both obama and mc cain are a joke as well. either way the next four years is looking grim.

obama- all i hear about is what needs to change- but nothing on how it's going to be done, and at what expense. and does no one else realize his tax plan and what it will do to this economy?! are we not in it bad enough as it is? oh wait that's right- obama doesn't believe that this countries economic standing is in jeopardy...

mc cain- his an old fogy war monger who unless it has something to do with pow or his many "friends" knows nothing about the subject and relies solely on his "team" to tell him what he thinks, what his stances are, and what he needs to do to appeal to the public.

they are both a joke! i am thinking of moving to australia- i hear their president is great!

  19. Your way of electing leaders is both ridiculous and confusing... you need more than two parties, at least that way there are more lesser evils to choose from.

  20. I agree, that's why I'm still voting for Ron Paul, even if I have to write him in!

  21. All politicians are baloney. So you gotta choose the lesser evil.

  22. No, no, you aren't.

Both the republican and democrat part has sold out the american people.  The only real difference is who they sold out to.  They're both for big government, fiscal irresponsibility, eroding our civil liberties, eroding the constitution, irresponsbible foreign policy, etc..

I'm writing Ron Paul in this year.  At least on the issues I didn't agree with him about, I knew honestly upfront what a vote for him meant... there is no flip flopping with him, no dirty late night sessions, he's up front and honest, and for the vast majority of people that disqualifies him from being president. It was almost unnerving to look at his voting record and see the level of consistency he's maintained.  I know he has no chance of winning, but at least it might send a message to both parties that there are a significant number of people who care about the corruption going on in government.

That being said, if I was tied down and forced to vote for Obama or McCain, I'd vote Obama.  At least the things he's advocating we spend our money has some return to the American people and if we're going to be fiscally irresponsible we should get something from it.  McCain just wants to burn more of our money and destroy the dollar more by having more wars in more countries.

    Edit: To Neil S -

The GOP has abandoned all of the traditional conservative values to pander to the religious reich to gain the unanimous support of the evangelical/fundamentalists which dutifully vote however they're told and very nearly worship cardboard cutouts of Bush because he's a rubber stamper for their policies.

They're no longer for fiscal conservation (although they claim to be, look at the record), they're no longer for smaller government, they're no longer civil liberties and constitutional conservatism (including separation of church and state), they no longer favor state rights over federal rights, etc, etc, etc. They've sold out completely and become neo-conservatives.

It's disgusting and sickens me. I'm afraid to call myself conservative these days because there are so few good examples of conservatives and I certainly don't want anyone to think I support the current bunch of idiots.

You're right about what being a republican used to stand for prior to and during Regan's era even... but you're not right about what current republican neo-conservatives stand for.

  23. Nope. But the only one of them you're right about is McCain :P
