Spithead expecting a debut success in the 32Redbet.com Nursery
Nine runners aged two-year-old have gathered for the Class 6 32Redbet.com Nursery and will contest for the £1,875 prize money by trying their luck over seven furlongs at Lingfield on Monday, 13th August. The only strongest link on the line-up is the two-year-old, Spithead.
He has been active only thrice during the season, and has failed through all the tries to clear the maiden. The William Haggas trained took off the racing career on 12th June, 2012 in the Dougland Maiden Auction Stakes (Division I) at Salisbury over six furlongs. He ended tenth in the track of eleven while breaking the maiden successfully was, Pasaka Boy.
Spithead became the mount for jockey, Liam Jones, for the race.
Tiger Hill’s bay gelding then progressed to a fourth position in the Herbie’s Maiden Auction Stakes on 23rd June, 2012 at Lingfield over seven furlongs. He raced yet again in partnership with jockey, Liam Jones.
The race was taken over by, Beau Select, by a mere neck’s margin.
Two attempts at two different venues and over two different distances did not help the fate of the bay gelding out of mare, Cyclone Connie.
The trainer, William Haggas, then got the bay gelding an entry in the Mirror Punters Club Maiden Auction Stakes on 10th July, 2012 at Wolverhampton over seven furlongs.
The favourite entry ended fifth with twelve other contenders while the race was won by, Purr Along, by the margin of five lengths.
The fourth career entry for the Mrs Charles Cyzer owned will be coupled up with jockey, Adam Beschizza, for the race and has been sent as the 9 to 4 shot against the competition today.
He might need to look out for the 12 to 1 entry for the contest today, the two-year-old, Cernanova, who has been consistent since the last two races might just display an improved and further composed form in the race tonight.
The bay filly has raced four times already and has failed to post success through any of them.
Birdy Boy and Garmelow Girl have been pointed out as potential threats for the bay gelding.
