Spitting up ? and feeding with 4 month old baby?

my daughter almost 4 month, barely spit up, but then I noticed this past 2 weeks, she starting spit up more often, sometimes happen 2 hours after feeding.

I asked doctor, he doesn't seem concern about it since she gains weight nicely (about 15lbs now) and doesn't seem distressed about.

And getting hard to feed her!, I exclusively pumping, so when I feed her, she likes playing with it, like blow the nipple and make a bubble with the saliva mixed milk.

How this phase will be gone?

and is this true 4 month is the peak of spit up?

When is your baby "peak" time?

  1. Both my daughters breastfed. The first one rarley spit up, but my second spit up a lot. She quit spitting up at around 7 months. Your doctor is right as long as she is gaining weight, then she is ok.

  2. yeah they say reflux peaks around 4 months, should get better after another 2- 3 weeks or so.

the doctor won't do anything as long as she is gaining weight.

mine spit up a TON up until about 4.5 - 5 months...now he doesn't spit up much at all (he is now 7 months).

  3. My youngest is also 4 months, and has also just started spitting up within the past week. I'm not sure what's goin on, but she has a doctor's appointment on Wedn, so we'll go over it then. When I called her doctor, they thought that it was possible that her spit up was attributed to medicine that she was recently on for thrush. Hopefully your doctor will have you bring your 4 month old in if it continues.

  4. Yes, babies do spit up. Usually nothing to worry about, just messy. Here are some tips though....make sure that baby is not overfeeding. Also do not "jacknife" baby right after eating -- meaning do not bend her too much, keep her calm, not on her belly. Change her diaper before feeding.

She is getting enough food and if she starts to play while feeding, gently stop feeding.
