Splendid bowling from Sri Lanka restricts West Indies to 203
West Indies could score only 203 runs in their allotted quota of 50 overs in the second ODI of the series against Sri Lanka. The match was played at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground at Colombo on third of February, 2011.
Sri Lankan captain, Kumar Sangakkara, won the toss and put West Indies into bat. Chris Gayle and the century maker in the last game http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adrian-Barath-c42094 opened the innings for West Indies.
They got off to a reasonable start by putting 45 runs on the board in 9.5 overs. Barath was declared lbw off Nuwan Kulasekara on 12. Darren Bravo joined Gayle but without the addition of any score, Gayle lost his wicket at 28. He was caught by Thilan Samaraweera
off Muttiah Murlitharan.
Ramnaresh Sarwan came to the crease and the pair took the score to 94 when Sarwan was run out for 21. Dwayne Bravo came out to bat and once the score reached 132 his partner Darren was declared lbw off the bowling of Lasith Malinga for 39.
After the fall of the fourth wicket, hard hitting Kieron Pollard joined Dwayne. The pair added only six runs to the total when Pollard was bowled by Malinga with his individual score on 4.
Then http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Carlton-Baugh-c49264 came to the field. With the score on 175 another wicket fell, that of Dwayne Bravo, who was bowled by Rangna Herath on 39. Sammy came out and joined Baugh but once the score reached 187, Sammy was run out for 4.
The West Indian tail could not add many runs and the wickets started tumbling. Nikita Miller went for a duck, Ravi Rampaul on one, and, Kemar Roach contributed nine runs only. Baugh remained not out on 28. The whole team was bundled out for 203.
Sri Lanka’s bowlers showed much discipline while bowling and they did not give away as many runs as the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 would have wanted. Malinga was their main bowler, who took three wickets, for only 30 runs.
Kulasekara took two for 42 and Muralitharan claimed two wickets for 42 as well while Herath grabbed one.
The target looks easy for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 unless some dramatic collapse happens.
