Question:

Splinters in big toe... ouch please help!?

Let me tell you one thing before you start reading... I NEVER take out splinters, I am a big scaredy cat. :D I was going to the shower and totall forgot I had left a wooden 'gate' across the door (so my dog couldn't get to the other rooms) It was dark and I forgot I put it there! So I tripped over it, and cut all my big toe, I can see lots of little splinters in there, but I can't take them out, I just can't! Any way to help 'release them' pain free?

*Gulp*

Thank you!

  1. If you can feel them, place a piece of tape across them, then the tape when removed should remove the splinters. Coat the sites with Neosporin and a band-aid if you get them out. If not you are just going to remove them with tweezers or have someone do it for you. If they are embedded, then have someone sterilize a sewing needle and they will have to dig a little bit to expose them, then pull them out, this may hurt a little. Don't be a scary cat, better to get them out than leave them in there which will in time infect your toe with something worse. Wishing you the very best young lady.

  2. You'll just have to be brave, get the tweezers and start plucking!

It'll be over before you know it, and next time wear your slippers!

  3. SOMETIMES the only best way is to do it yourself in the comfort a filled warm tub because only you can know if there is any pain and either you do it slowly or pul them out in one yank.usually if the are superficial they don't hurt at all.

  4. Oh my goodness. There is no way to remove them other than tweezers. You can do it! I have faith in you little red birdie!

If all else fails...ask your big sis to pull them out for you.

It doesn't hurt to pull them out...promise! You can't even feel it. Hope your toe is better...I'm headed home :)

  5. I know EXACTLY how you feel. I am such a wuss. I can't even take pills. One time I got a really bad splinter way in there and I wouldn't let anyone touch it and it was in the summer so I went swimming and it came out then. So try soaking your foot in some hot/warm water for a while. If they don't come out from the water then take the tweezers and use them while your foot is in the warm water.

Or the exact opposite- numb your toe up with ice and then pluck them out.

  6. Just be brave little Birdie, start plucking

  7. take your shower...soak the foot...it might come out, but you have to pull a bit!
