Spliting/chopping wood?...can you make good profet selling it, or is it a hard business?

Question

Well, I'm a college student but I don't go back to school until next year. Until then I want to make and save some money. I already work at a local farm, but I want to do a side job at home.

Is chopping/spliting wood and selling it, a profetable business?...or is it more worth my while to raise some Turkeys or Chickens in the spring?

I'm open to any kind suggestions or ideas. Small side jobs I can make a profet from.

you can make good money but it is very hard work. i cut and sold firewood ever since i was a kid. i got my own chainsaw for christmas when i was 14. i also cut pulp wood for a while. if you have somewhere to get the wood and a way to haul it i say go for it. it can be backbreaking work if you have to split it by hand so keep in mind that you will want to get a log splitter when you get business built and can afford one. and do not haul firewood on any pickup you care about because it will be trashed. i predect that with the high fuel prices this is a good time for firewood.

Are you also handy at fixing things?  Can you mend a fence, fix a sagging door, replace a broken window?  If you have fix-it skills, you can offer those services as well.  Sometimes just posting a notice on a store or post office bulletin board can bring business your way.  There is lots of how-to information on the internet to help you figure out how to do just about anything.  Good luck.

Cutting, splitting, and selling fire wood is good money.  It's a lot of work, but if you are willing to work hard, it's about as good as any part time work you can find.  Also there is nothing keeping you from raising the turkeys or chickens as well.  I'd go for both. Good luck.

you can make good money selling wood and you might want to do both college is a money eater
