Question:

Splits help?

Ok... i can't do the splits... I dont even come close.

Any ideas on how I can do them... like any stretches I should do which will eventually enable me to be able to do them?

p.s. if ur wondering WHY in the world a guy would want to do the splits... it's like for the sake of doing them ... I've recently started learning to breakdance and being able to do these will help my learn moves easier as well as make them look better.

- i put this in the dancing section cause I know a lot of dancers can do the splits so help me out! ;)

  1. just go down as far as you can till u feel the  muslces pulling and go more and more in each stretch till you can do it

    itl take a good few weeks and lots of determination


  2. You have to do basic stretches...center, right, left touching your toes. You should also go down into your splits and hold it there until you can't any more. TRUST ME IT WORKS!!! You must sit there...while watching TV it's a distraction.

  3. well just get a bar and put your leg on it and push and just keep trying =)

  4. Okay these stretches will loosen up your hips and make you more flexible....but you just need to do your splits for 2 minutes [right and left split] everyday. I promise that you will get closer and closer to the ground each day. You just need to train your body to do that.

    When you are doing the frog stretch lean forward to your legs, it stretches out your muscles even more. Try to get your chest leaning flat up against your thighs.

  5. Ok. Dancing isn't ALL about doing the splits and being a dancer I can tell you that it takes a lot out of you. Please!!! Before you go and do anything STRETCH. That is probably the most important thing to do before dancing, no matter what style.

    (sit on the floor)

    Start with your dominate side foot in the front

    Bend you leg so that you knee is fully bent

    extend your back leg so that you are "sitting" w/ your hips facing forward

    slowly extend your front leg

    MAKE SURE TO KEEP YOUR HIPS FACING FORWARD AT ALL TIMES

    try this a couple times a day for a while

  6. Okay, well you have to warm up.you should go into the splits and hold it for a minute or so then rest for a minute or so and repeat. Do it a couple times every day and you will have your splits in no time! When you get your splits you have to stretch and practice everyday.

  7. If you hold your split for 1 minute everyday for a week, your split will go down 1 inch.  2 min/day=2 in/wk, etc.

  8. you just have to spend time on them.........stretch out your legs-just use your common sense to stretch them out....and then sit in your splits for a couple minutes-eventually, you will get them
