ok i have dance aditions and i didnt know we had to do the splits i need to fuguire out ways to do the splits in a month or less please people help me direct me to some website im begging you!

  1. It takes a LONG time to get your splits down, but here is a great video that will help you tremendously. Hold each position for three minutes (she says thirty seconds but after three minutes your muscles relax and you can go much further) and do it at least three times a day.

    on the middle go forward as far as you can when you poll your body in you'll come off the ground but hold yourself there for three minutes. It's the longest three minutes of your life, but it's worth it.

    Also for your middle splits, you can find a wall and push your split against it as far as you can and hold it. Try and keep your hips on the floor.

  2. start in your "split" and then get a few pillows and lay your front foot on top of them. this overstretches your legs, so helps you get them faster... it takes a while to get in them... so good luck!!!

    That's a good site on basic stretches, but if you aren't close to being able to do the splits already, PLEASE don't push yourself too hard. You can do some serious damage if you go too fast.

    and then every day afterwards try do the splits and everyday try go down further

    and eventually you should get it!

  5. You either have to wing it and hope you got because it takes months to get your split! you have to do extreme stretching every day ..... good luck!

  6. stretch for at least 10 minutes everyday and try to do splits everyday. trust me it wont take long at all. i got mine stretching twice a week in about a month and 1/2. so if you do everyday then youll have it in no time! good luck :)

  7. Lay on your back with both legs flat. Then lift one knee up to your chest, and try to straighten your leg with out changing the angle of your knee. Even if you cant straighten it all the way, just hold it where you can feel a stretch. Then bend it again, straighten it again, etc, a few times. Make sure to do both legs so you get an even stretch!

  8. There's a couple of good answers in here. With a lot of dedication, you can totally do this.

    One thing though. ALWAYS warm up first. Run lightly for 5 minutes, jump rope, whatever it takes to raise your body temperature 1 or 2 degrees and to get your muscles warm. If they're cold, you'll end up hurting yourself and straining a muscle, and you'll have to start all over again after healing.

  9. Hey, I have a different method for getting your splits fast. Practice your stretches in the bathroom. Run hot water in your bath tub. Get in the water, letting your muscles warm and  then jump out and practice the stretches on the floor. After a  while repeat (jump back in the water and then out doing splits) and keep increasing the water and heat so you can continue keeping your muscles warm. Remember to be really .safe and stretch everyday. Good Luck!

    trust me it works, cause i got them. But no matter how far you are from your splits, just keep going cause you ARE getting closer, you just can't see it. your muscle are getting used to the stretching and pretty soon...TA DA! you can go them.

  11. I learned to do them with this method it will work but you have to do it just as I say.

    First get down as low as you can into the side or front splits

    Once down flex your leg muscles as hard as you can for ten seconds like you are trying to get up only with the legs then relax them and slide back out   you will notice that you will slide down a few more inches than the first time  this is because flexing allows the muscles to tighten then when you relax they are more pliant.

    Do this at lease four times a day everyday and you will be able to do the splits in about 2 weeks

  12. stretch out really well first and make sure you are totally warmed up. If you do not do this you WILL hurt yourself. Then get a mat or a stack of pillows or books about a foot high. Put your foot/ ankle on the stack that you made and go into the splis. (you should be somewhat diaganol). Try to get your hips square and hold it there for at least 30 seconds. Then, after each side do the regular splits. Use heat if you need to help your muscles warm up..

  13. When I had dance try-outs, they told us to use pillows to help get used to the transition.

    Stretch your legs first of course. Then put a pillow or two under you and stay in the splits position for a few minutes then switch legs. Eventually you'll be able to remove a pillow at a time and be stretched enough to get in the splits position without popping your leg out of socket (which did happen to lots of girls who didnt practice, looked painful.) Don't rush it or over-do it in the beginning!

    I'm assuming this works for all three ways that you can do the splits. Personally, it's easier for me do them with my right leg out than my left. So if you only have to do the splits in one position, I'd suggest figuring out which way is easiest for you and practice extensively that way.

    I know this way sounds dumb but hey that's just how I was taught and it did work (and i only had three weeks and am not a very flexible person.)

  15. i do the splits to see how far i can go and the space left i stack pillow and i just sit there doing the splits while watching TV about 15 minutes and when i get up I'm closer to the ground Ive got the splits in a day doing that but its still going to hurt when you get all the way to the ground you got to keep stretching until you get comfortable good look its hard work :)
