Splitting the bills between two people?

Question

Do you think, That if my boyfriend and I split bills, if we both write a check for exactly half of the bill, and put the account number on each and sent them in the same envelope they would take it as payment? We are having trouble finding a way to easily split our bills in half.

Any ideas? Thanks

My roommate and I used to do that. It works just fine except for rent. Rent has to be paid with one check. She used to write me a check and I'd deposit it, and then I'd write the rent check.

they would take it but expect them to lose many payments, I could see them s******g up your accounts. You are making it way to difficult.  Why can't one person just give the other 1/2 the money and write one check.  Or buy a money order.

Danny has the right idea, let one person right the check and then have the other write one the first for half.  If that doesn't work, switch months for each other for each bill.  Or just have an account that you both write checks to to equal what your bills are and then use it to pay your debts.

If you want to continue to make payments that way, you should use different envelopes.  That way they will not get confused.  Or you can start paying your bills on line.  That's what my boyfriend an I do.
