Skipper Steve White, winner of the 2005 single handed transatlantic OSTAR race in the monohull race, ranked 7th single handed solo sailor in the world is in serious need of commercial sponsorship for the Artemis Transat in MAY and the Vendee Globe 2008 (November) after ten years he has gone from nothing to this point where he owns an OPEN 60 ( like Dame Ellen Macarthur's B&Q boat ) but Steve is about to lose it all after having remortgaged his home and worked himself beyond his own strength. He has four children a wife and many animals all supporting him and he would appreciate any help. Details can be found on www dot whiteoceanracing dot com the commercial returns on investment are fabulous. The Vendee Globe is the toughest round the world single handed non stop race on earth . And he must be desperate or this would not posted be on YA!!!!! Please help! All enquiries please to me and I'll try and answer you.

  1. Hi.  I can't help you out financially myself but I do know someone who might be able to guide you in a good direction.

I'm a sponsor for Derek Hatfield and Spirit of Canada, who will also be competing in the next Vendee Globe.  He has basically done the same thing as Steve White has (by the sounds of it).  In 10 years or so, he's gone from nothing to an Open 60 that he's just finished a Vendee Globe qualifier race with; the Trans Atlantic B to B.  Most of the money that he has raised has been through promoting himself and the boat whenever possible and knocking on a lot of doors.  Perhaps he can shed some insight into some of the things you can do to find the cash backing you need.  Here's Spirit of Canada's email:

    info@spiritofcanada.net

Good l**k and I hope to read about you in the next Vendee Globe

  2. I too sponsor Mr. Hatfield. Perhaps he will assist.

    Good luck.
