My mom wants to sponsor her sister to live in the U.S.

My mom is a U.S. citizen.

Can someone please give me some information such as

how long it will take and stuff.

  1. One thing's for sure, it will take quite a while, but the time frames are wrong in the other answers. At the moment, the priority date for F4 family preference petitions, which is the category for your aunt would be, is 1 October 1997, or about 11 years for citizens of most countries. The priority date for Filipinos is in 1986. You can verify this in the Visa Bulletin at travel.state.gov in the immigrant visa section. The 1 Oct 97 date means that only those petitions filed on or before that date are valid for use. You can look through the immigrant visa section for other info as well, or check out uscis.gov.    


  2. Just the processing time is 7.5 years at the CA Service Center. Check for yourself the link is below.

  3. Your mum can sponsor her sis, but it takes forever. It thinks about 7 years if she id from the phillipines, and 9-15 years if from mexico.

    i am from Africa, and it has been 3 yrs my sis filed the papers for me and nothing yet.

    Immigration takes forever!
