Question:

Spooky Twists of Fate or Something More?

Having read a number of questions here about people asking about premonitions, omens and general coincidence/destiny questions led me to think about President Lincoln's well recorded dream/premonition of his death. This then led me to the coincidences between the assassinations of Kennedy and Lincoln. A detailed account can be found here http://www.japantoday.com/forum/printable.asp?m=956293

Also have a look at these conincidences http://listverse.com/bizarre/top-15-amazing-coincidences/

I'm sure that there will be people out there that say if you look hard enough you can find similarities in everything. But could these examples be proof that some other higher forces are at work? If so for what purpose?

  1. Everyone says that Nostradamus predicted 9/11, the crash of the Hindenburg, Napoleon and Hitler as well as other things. Do you believe that this are preordained events that are destined to happen?

I don't, while a lot of thing that are predicted very rarely do they come to pass and when they do the prediction is extremely vague, and people look at the prediction and make connections that just are not there. So while prediction and talk of fate are great to read about I think that is all they are a great read.

  2. I think it could be something higher to prepare the person. When I was a paramedic, I heard people say they had a dream that they would die, and they did especially older people.

  3. I think it shows a bare thread of something divine. I believe in God, but not quite sure how those are just a coincidence. Ya know? sp

  4. i'm with the 'look hard enough' theory, i'll admit that i'm one of the worlds great sceptics but i try to remain open minded.  my problem with premonitions is that if you predicted something as serious as your own death surely you'd do something about it, it only takes a small change to alter your 'life-path' completely.

as for coincidences - they're called that for a reason.

  5. "I'm sure that there will be people out there that say if you look hard enough you can find similarities in everything."

    Yes, this is true.

"But could these examples be proof that some other higher forces are at work?"

No.  Why on earth would you think so?

    .

  6. Interesting info.  I do not believe in coincidence.   I believe that things happen for a reason regardless how bizarre it may seem.   If people have premonitions on the world or their death there is no way to avoid the incident it will happen.

  7. Maybe so many people have lived lives that we run out of "life stories"...so some stories have to repeat themselves. Maybe "life stories" or circumstances are hanging around out there in space and get attached to us when we're not doing something else with our lives. I just think with so many people over so many centuries...some life stories are bound to overlap or be the same. Of course, there haven't been that many presidents. Maybe when you become president (or something in a high position) you walk into a kind of life that has already been chosen...for whoever fills that position. In other words...I have no idea if these two happenings are coincidence or fate.
