Sport and/or recreation called?

Question

I have been looking for what the sport is called where people come up with and make their own gliders. They then run and jump off of a platform hoping their contraption glides. The one that goes the furthest is the winner. It sounds like a german name. I have been looking on the internet but I have no clue what the name is.

Perhaps your talking about Flugtag?

Heres a link to the Red Bull Flugtag events for 2008. I think they are probably THE largest in the sport.
