Question:

Sportbike Racing leagues, divisions & Classes explain Plz

I just started watching motorcycle racing this year and I get confused about what I'm watching sometimes.

There's AMA, Moto GP, and World Superbike (SBK)

Then within each there are different classes i think.

My question is, which is more or least advanced? Would a career start at Moto GP then progress to AMA, then SBK?

What are the differences between each?

  1. Thank you Girl Racer !!!

    MotoGP:

MotoGP class, 800cc 4 stroke one off prototype machines.

    250cc, 2 stroke bikes.

    125cc, 2 stroke bikes.

    WSB:

    Supers, 4 cyld = 1000cc / 2 cyld= 1200cc

    Sports, 600cc 4 cyld.

    BSB, the same as WSB.

AMA is now the DMG & nobody in the world has a clue what is going there and nor do they care to be honest.

  3. Thanks Girl Racer. I see you have the hang of the links now.

Wiggysan has it spot on again. including the AMA bit.

there is also the superstock which is a more basic version of the Supersport in Superbike racing. The AMA also run an Extreme wwhich is just another version of the supersport in WSBK.

    The Pinacle is MotoGP
