Sporting Clube and Città di Montesilvano reach the finals of the 2011 UEFA Futsal Cup
A heart-breaking defeat for the Kairat Almaty team from Kazakhstan by Portugal, at the semi-finals of the UEFA Futsal Cup was competed on April 29, 2011. The event was played at the Baluan Sholak Sport Palace, Kazakhstan. Sporting Clube de Portugal
team defeated the host nation’s team in a head-to-head match with a 3-2 score.
It was Caio Japa from the Portugal team, who scored the game-winning goal of the event in the 34th minute of the match. It is for the first time that the Sporting Clube de Portugal reached the finals of the 2011 UEFA Futsal
Cup.
The Kairat Almaty lost the match when it reached the end of the road. The Portuguese team won because of the last goal scored by Caio Japa. The Kairat Almaty team made a comeback they scored two goals with the last one on the 38th minute
of the match.
Both the teams did not score any goal in the first half of the match. The Sporting Clube de Portugal took the lead and scored two goals consecutively. Divanei took the lead and scored the first goal in the 24th minute of the
match after the half time following him Caio Japa scored the second in the 26th minute of the match.
Leo Santana was the only player, who gave his best for the Kairat Almaty team. He scored both the two goals for the team in the second half of the match, but his efforts went in vain and the team lost the semi-finals.
The second semi-final was contested amongst the ASD Città di Montesilvano, Italy and SL Benfica from Portugal. The Italian team defeated the ex champions of the UEFA Futsal cup in 3-0 goals.
There was no goal scored in the first half of the match. In the second half it was Leandro Cuzzolino's who scored the first goal of the match. The second goal was scored by Cristian Borruto and the last goal to seal the Città di Montesilvano was scored
by Stefano Mammarella.
The three goals scored by the Città di Montesilvano from Italy, who made their debut in the tournament, will be contesting against the Sporting Clube de Portugal. It was no doubt a surprise performance from the debutant team against the champions.
The Italians prevented the finals to be all Portugal final of the UEFA Futsal Cup. The final will be contested on May 1, 2011.
