Sporting Lisbon are back, says Andre Santos – Primeira Liga News
Sporting Lisbon’s Andre Santos has claimed that with last night’s UEFA Europa League win over Italian side Lazio, the club are back to their best and are in pole position to qualify for the next stage of the competition.
The Lions played their 2nd UEFA Europa League game, this time at Estadio Jose Alvalade, against Lazio.

Netherlands International http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ricky-van-Wolfswinkel-c31131 continued his goal-scoring ways with a very well taken finish and opened the scoring before the break. Emiliano Insua also found the back of the net with a superb volley, while Klose added a consolation strike
for the visitors.
While many have commented that Sporting did not give the best of performances and have secured victory with a hint of luck, Andre Santos believes the opposite, claiming that the team has found its form.
Speaking to reporters, the midfielder said that the fans will relish last night’s win but the club is targeting further victories and will build on the performance against Lazio.
"Sporting are back, the fans want this and the Sporting players as well. With this win we will have a better week. We want to give this joy to fans' wishes.” Santos beamed.
The Portuguese also said that the Sportinguistas will have to gain victories in their upcoming fixtures but currently are in a good position to qualify for the knockout stages.
"But now we have to win the next game. Mathias is also good player and I'm here is to work. We have six points from two games and we have distanced ourselves from competitors, we are well underway.” He added.
Lastly, the former Uniao Leiria man said that the result was much harder to gain because of the sending off, but they still managed to do it.
"It was a painful victory; we lost a player early on and then had to play with a less experienced one,” he concluded.
Sporting Lisbon’s next fixture will now be against Uniao Leiria away from home in the Primeira Liga.
