Sporting Lisbon check on Marat Izmailov today – Portuguese Primeira Liga News
Later today, September 20, 2011, Sporting Lisbon are due to assess the extent of damage Marat Izmailov has sustained to his knee, and will decided if the forward requires surgical treatment to heal his injury.
The Russian spent most of the last season on the treatment due to a troublesome knee problem but began this term in great goalscoring fashion. The striker is currently the Lion’s highest scorer with three and looked set to have a great campaign, however,
an alleged recurrence of the injury saw the player miss out on the match against Rio Ave.
Given that it is not the first time this has happened, Izmailov may have to go under the knife to cure his woes.
Manager Domingos Paciência said that it was an unfortunate occasion as the attacker himself wants to play.
“Marat continues to complain. It’s a complicated situation for the player, who wants to train and wants to play but can’t because he is in pain.”
The tactician also admitted that something needs to be done urgently so that the player can recover quickly and get back, a dire situation which neither he nor the front-man would have liked to be in.
“Something has to be done. Another operation? The medical department will decide. He may have to face a spell on the sidelines for a longer period to recover, which makes sense, or it may need another solution. We will see. It’s a situation that does not
please Marat and does not please us,” Domingos Paciência was quoted as saying.
Currently there are two solutions to the problem identified by the club. First is that the player undergoes a special kind of routine, so that his injured knee can naturally heal. The other is that he must get operated upon and have the injury surgically
corrected.
Both the options have their respective pros and cons, but given that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marat-Izmailov-c23466 is a very influential player for Sporting Lisbon, a decision must be taken at the earliest.
