Sporting Lisbon director Carlos Freitas rules out a move for Arsenal's Nicklas Bendtner – Report
Sporting Lisbon supremo, Carlos Freitas, has dismissed rumours of the club signing Nicklas Bendtner and said that the Arsenal forward is no closer to joining the Lions than Gonzalo Higuain or http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044.
The Danish International had been left out Arsenal’s plans for pre-season and was told to seek greener pastures somewhere else. In a bid to secure his future, the 23-year-old supposedly arrived in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 to negotiate a deal with Sporting Lisbon but the
Jose Alvalade officials have put an end to all the speculation.
Carlos Freitas stressed that the Lisbon outfit were not on the verge of concluding a switch for the forward and said that all reports linking him to the club were baseless.
"I have no justification for such news.
“Bendtner is a player who is as close to Sporting as Higuain or Drogba are.” He laughed off the rumours.
"Those are players who are at the same distance from Sporting. The reports of a move for Bendtner are a fictitious production," Freitas added.
Sporting are not the only club with whom the Arsenal front man has been linked. Until recently, German giants Borussia Dortmund were also thought be in contention for his signature. However, the Borussians distanced themselves from such reports, saying that
the club had never lodged any bid for the Olsen Gang International.
Their Bundesliga rivals, Hamburg, however, showed their willingness and admiration to sign Bendtner. The Red Shorts acknowledged that they were interested in acquiring his talents but had been priced out of a move due to the transfer fee demanded by Arsenal.
While the Londoners seem to be ready to offload Bendtner, they are demanding a €12 million at the same time, top-dollar transfer fee for the attacker that made a paltry 9 appearances last season.
Although Arsene Wenger claimed that he would do his best to retain his players, even he said that he will not stop the former Birmingham man from seeking a move away from the Emirates.
“How many will leave the club? I said from the start I will fight to keep everybody
"Nicklas Bendtner might go and Emmanuel Eboue might go. They can talk to clubs, but the rest I will fight.” Wenger said.
With a move to Sporting Lisbon and Borussia Dortmund ruled out, and Hamburg facing financial constraints, options for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicklas-Bendtner-c27726 are narrowing down fast. A move to a big club seems unlikely but a lower Premiership or a UEFA Champions League side could
suit the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884 International very well.
