http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 due to his goal scoring feats this term.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitesse-c40905 man signed for Sporting in the summer and has since then gone to net a hugely impressive tally of 11 goals in only 14 appearances. With that kind of prolificacy, it’s no wonder that Europe’s elite are on his trail.
From the likes of Manchester United to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863, many teams have expressed their interest in obtaining the services of the former Utrecht man and the Red Devils even made their pursuit public through coach, Mike Phelan.
While Van Wolfswinkel is on the radar of several clubs, Sporting Lisbon are keen to keep him and have made alot of effort into ensuring that the player keeps plying his trade at Estadio Jose Alvalade.
The Sportinguistas have placed a clause in the 22-year-old’s contract which states that if ever a suitor is able to match the required €22 million transfer fee, the player will only be allowed to leave during the summer and not before that.
Besides the Lisbon outfit’s own efforts, Van Wolfswinkel has also reiterated his commitment to the team and insisted that he will not leave for at least two more years.
"I hope I will stay for at least two years and that this team will stick together for that long. I really like being at Sporting and that is seen on the field. I have no reason to leave - I look around and I have all I want,” he said.
With Sporting ensuring that their star player does not leave in the winter, a switch for Ricky van Wolfswinkel is unlikely to materialize as he has already made his decision to stick with the club and play for them till 2013.
