Sporting Lisbon defender Anderson Polga is looking for nothing else than win, when his side take on Danish side Nordsjaelland in a UEFA Europa League qualifier at home on the 25th of August.
Sporting Lisbon welcome Nordsjaelland to Estadio Jose Alvalade in the second leg of their UEFA Europa League qualifier, after the first match ended in a 0-0 draw.
The Lions have accumulated one of the best and most talented squads in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 following their summer spending spree but the new stars have so far failed to shine.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stijn-Schaars-c34229 are some of the big names to arrive at the Lisbon outfit, however, they haven’t performed yet in the league or in Europe. Now the pressure on them to succeed has heightened, but central-defender Anderson
Polga remains convinced of his side’s ability and is sure that they will qualify for the group stages.
"We will decide the tie at home, knowing the capabilities of the group, that has to be done to achieve our goal and we will fight for the group stage. This game is very important for us.”
Domingos Paciência’s team also encountered another 0-0 draw over the weekend against Beira-Mar and it is definite that the momentum to succeed is clearly not going their way.
Regardless, Polga reiterated that if they put in the right amount of effort in training and decide to work as cohesive unit, the Sportinguistas would be able to savour a victory, something which has thus far eluded them in the 2011/2012 season.
“We always want to win. Let's put the same effort and dedication of the latest games in tomorrow and try to meet goals together.
We know that to pass, we have to be a strong team, determined and with a sense of position because it will be a tough game. We have to realize the opportunities to decide the qualifiers,” the defender was quoted as saying.
Although the players and coaches remain confident that a win will be secured, Sporting Lisbon are still not back to their best and it is uncertain whether they make it to group stages of the UEFA Europa League this season.
