I didnt think i was that unfit.

Will it be like impossible to train and get a better time.

I only have a couple of weeks agghhh.

Also whats average time?

Whats the best way? ... is running everynight or just like a couple of times a week. im not good at long distance so what is the best method of running??

  1. run hills until it feels like your legs are going to fall off. try to run 15 a day (no all at the same time). running hills is the fastest way to build up muscle mass and I was able to take minutes off my mile time, just by running hills. good luck, you will be fine :)

  2. I'M A WORLD CLASS RUNNER AND EVEN THOUGH IM A YOUTH TAKE MY ADVICE I WILL ADVIZE YOU TO RUN EVERY SINGLE DAY. BUT TO RUN A FAST 1500 METER RACE IT IS ALL ABOUT SPEED SO TRY RUNNING 10 TO 15 400 METER REPITITIONS IN LESS THAN 205 TWO TIMES A WEEK FOR SPEEDWORK AND RUN A HIGHER AMOUT OF MILES THAT WILL FEEL EASY ENOUGH TO RECOUPERAT YOUR BODY FOR THE NEXT WEEK.  BUT WHEN YOU DO THE SPEED WORK DO IT AT LEAST A DAY SEPERATE THAN YOUR PREVIEST BECAUSE YOU WILL HURT YOUR SELF.BUT KEEP IN MIND THAT YOUR LAST WEEK UNTIL THE RACE RUN THE SPEED WORK FASTER BY ABOUT 10SECONDS 2 SPEEDWORKS   AND THE LAST 3 DAYS REALLY SLOW TO BE READY AND NOT TIRED. I HATE STRETCHING BUT I STRETCH A LITTLE AFTER I RUN YOU NEED TO STRETCH TOO SO YOUR TURN OVER CAN BE REALLY FAST AND YOU WILL FINISH STRONG. LIKE I SAID TAKE MY ADVICE BECAUSE IM A 459 MILER AND I TO HAVE A 1500 METER RACE THIS  SUNDAY AND MY GOAL IS 440 OR UNDER.

  3. try running progressively farther not faster (at least initially)

if you can train at a track that would be pretty ideal. anyways i would start by running 1/2 a mile (or two laps) at your mile pace (not any faster). do this for the first two days and rest the next. then try doing the whole mile but a couple minutes SLOWER than you can. do this again and take a day of rest. try alternating jogging two minutes and walking one minute for twenty minutes. the next day run the mile AS FAST AS YOU CAN (of course finishing at all is slightly more important).

Rest the day after this (you may very well need it). after this try alternating the easy mile jog (the second thing i suggested on here) with the twenty minutes of alternating jogging/walking rest one day before you actually have to do the 1500m. two days before the sports day run a VERY easy mile, but just make sure you actually do the whole mile without stopping/walking. if these workouts are two easy for you try running farther/longer but NOT faster. and if you do feel you can go faster even then, do so, BUT at least make sure you don't skip rest days.

so here's an overview (you can certianly tweak it, but generally go by it, especially right before the actual sports day):

    half mile at mile pace

    half mile at mile pace

    rest

    easy mile

    easy mile

    rest

    jogging/walking alternation

FAST mile-run this like the race

    rest

assortment of jog/walk's and easy miles (take a rest day every 3rd or 4th day)

run another FAST mile 3 days before

run a VERY EASY mile 2 days before

    rest

    RUN!

...oh and don't forget to PACE YOURSELF! in the last 3-4 days drink A LOT of water. continue to do so the morning of the race but stop AT LEAST an hour before the race. you should be p*ssing like a russian race horse

  4. JOE hate to burst your bubble but your not a world class runner. You would need to relistically take a whole minute off your mile time too b considered a world class athlete breaking 5 means absolutely nothing.

umm speed would work like some people said for some people, but i would suggest on just building up your stamina by doing like 2 an 3 miles maybe more if u can, cause 10:40 is just you dont have enough endurance to run that far, that time has nothing to do with your speed, so i think working on your endurance/stamina would be the most benificial for you and speed will come eventually idk about how much in 3 weeks but eventually you can work your way into some speed stuff if u chose to keep running after your sports day

  5. get out in the begining

after that stride it out t

then when on you last lap sprint out

at the 150 mark hope this helps

    and hope you qualify
