Ok i am in high school and am currently on the girls JV volleyball team. This is my first year playing volleyball, since my main sport is basketball. There is something called club volleyball that is at the same time as basketball season. Club is really supposed to help you, but a girl on my team said it is really time consuming. I really want to do both volleyball and basketball, but i dont know if i should. any advice? also if you know anything else about club volleyball please tell me.

  1. You can shop around your area for different club teams.  Go to usavolleyball.org, then the WannaPlay link, then the USA Volleyball regions link, then the RVA link, then the map link where you live.  You can take the short cut below and get there quickly.

Different clubs have different ideas.  Some clubs practice once a week and very lax about attendance at practices.  The club I am working with now has 2 practices a week and they want you to work out a third time a week with the trainer.  And then, there is the tournaments on the weekend.  You are making a 3 to 4 time a week commitment if you join our club.  And if you do not show up for practice, you do not play.

Club volleyball will help you.  Even 1 practice a week plus 10 tournaments a year, you will be getting more touches and working out more with volleyball than you have ever done before.  It is a commitment.  It is not cheap with money or time.  You will have to learn how to balance basketball, club volleyball, studying, family and sleep.  If the 5 minutes left over, you can have a life with your other friends.  Just kidding, but it will seem like that.

  2. i played club volleyball for 7 year. and i am now a coach of a team. about your age group. club does take alot of time and energy. If my girls miss too many practices they dont' get to play with us. if your great at time management with school and 2 sports i'de say go for it. if your struggling in school  i woudl say spend more time studying!

  3. play the sport that means the most to you...i'm in my 3rd year of club, and it is simply amazing for me...but then again, volleyball is my only passion. if bball means more to you, then maybe you could do a pick-me-up league of vball during bball season.

  4. hmmm....well I love volleyball and I am on my high school JV team too! Although this is my 3rd year playing volleyball! If you want my advice....play whichever sport you want to improve at and have more fun playing. You said your main sport is basketball---well after playing volleyball, is it still your main sport?? Or would you rather do club volleyball and work harder to make the team again next year?? These are the questions you need to be asking yourself and whichever one you like more....is the one you should do! I hope this helps and Good Luck!

  5. play bball...im just like u, except a few years down the road...

bball is my favorite sport...my vball coach wanted me to play club, but i picked bball and im a starter on both teams now as a senior...

    good luck!
