Is it true that i cannot place more than $500 a bet on 1 bookie (i mean a single bet)

Ppl say u should not bet or they wil not allow you 2 bet more than $500 on a single bet

If thats the case, i'l get on average 2% arb, so only $20 on $1000?

Cud anybody say me how much a single bookie allows 2 bet?
