i want to get a sports bike but i have this problem. my height is 5'4 and weight about 125 lbs i dont want to get a 250 because if i start getting better at riding it would just be a waste to purchase a bike then have to trade for a bigger engine. what would you suggest on getting for someone who is just beginning

  1. look at a ninja 500. it's nearly the same size as a 250, but the engine is bigger and will go (when you are ready for it.) make sure you take a safety class. it'll help out allot.

  2. Go with a smaller less expensive bike to learn how to ride. Broken sport bike pieces are pricey, what you might pay in parts could pay for that beater. Who knows, if the learner machine doesn't get to cracked up you can always sell it for a down payment. You can always trade up. Motorcycling isn't something to jump into with both feet, you need the learning experience first. This will build confidence in your abilities to becoming an avid rider, which in turn helps your knowledge of being safety minded. Being aware of all the hazards around you and the ability to know how to maneuver is the key to MC survival. Take a class it'll help.

  3. Ninja 500R. Perfect!

  4. Yamaha FZ6

    Kawasaki 500 or 650 Ninja

    Suzuki SV650, or GS500S

  5. 600 is the way to go, or get a beater for a grand and learn to ride.

  6. The Ninja 650 has a decent seat height for a shorter rider. The Suzuki SV and the Yamaha FZ6 have comparable power, but I think the seat height is a little higher. Try sitting on the bikes at the dealers and see which one fits the best.

Most bikes can be lowered, but I'm not sure how much a service department would charge you.
