does anyone have any advice about trading in your very nice (basically perfect) Trans Am...for a family SUV? That car was my first car and i was/am very proud of my car. its mint condition, black leather seats, t-tops, red, its sounds great, chrome wheels , and i love it! But...my husband and i are wanting to start a family within the next year 1/2...and i know we will need a family car. its just difficult letting go of your first car. and a trans am DEF. is not a car suitable for a car seat lol...

  1. Talk about culture shock.

About 8 years ago we traded in my wife's red convertible mustang GT for a minivan.

But that wasn't really her dream car, more of a whim.

Your case is different.  Wait until the last possible moment.

You won't need a soccer mom car until you have at least two kids.

  2. go for the Cadillac cts it will give similar performance to the trans am, just dont get the v6 model

  3. First, i wouldnt trade it. If you must get rid of it sell it outright to another person. A dealer wont give you diddly squat for the car.

Sell it to someone then move on and buy something else. But keep in mind about those SUVs. Most are gas hogs....even the smaller ones. Although your Trans Am probably was hard on gas itself.

They do make a Ford Escape in a Hybrid model. Its a smaller SUV. Would be perfect for a couple just starting a family. Plenty of room and relatively good on gas.

  4. if you can handle the sticker shock Honda Odyssey is very nice performer.

for a low cost alternative Kia Rondo

The Kia Rondo is a five-door crossover vehicle that debuted at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show. Based on the front-wheel-drive platform of the Kia Optima, the Rondo is shaped like a small minivan offering spacious legroom and headroom. Sharing engine, transmission and chassis components with the Optima, the Rondo is offered with a 162-horsepower 2.4-liter engine or a 182-horsepower 2.7-liter V6. The four cylinder comes with a 4-speed automatic while the V6 has a 5-speed automatic. Available in 5- and 7-passenger versions, the Rondo offers optional third-row seating that can fold down in a 50/50 split

it's been sold successfully for years in Europe as the Carens

  5. I would not trade it- rather sell it separately, not only will you get more in value (check Bluebook values) but if you advertise it in a specialty magazine specifically geared toward high performance, Pontiac, or collector series, you will more than likely sell it to someone who will appreciate what it is- especially a one owner car, and take care of it.

  6. well just b/c you starting a family doesnt mean youll need an suv.  have you looked at the pontiac g8 or the impala ss but nice sedans that will fit car seats/strollers and still look sporty
