  1. "better" is subjective. The muffler will give you that fast and furious f**t can sound. The intake will give u some sound from the engine bay (which is where the go-fast sounds SHOULD be coming from). Both will add performance and probably a few MPGs. It would sound the same on an auto as on a manual, but the manual will give you a more "crisp" revving sound from the exhaust.

The real thing to worry about is performance. Forget how it sounds. If you're just looking for sound, slap on some pep boys muffler and call it quits. If you're looking for true street cred, avoid all the "weapon r" junk and TURBO SOUND MUFFLER. There's no substitute for quality performance products.

  2. well, it depends on what kind of sound you want. do you want a richer, deeper tone or a lighter, not as deep tone? if you want a deeper tone, you can just get an axleback and put it on the car, but go on youtube first to see how it sounds. there are some pretty nice sounding exhausts out there that don't make your car sound like a ricer.

i would say, however, that if you are just worried about the sound just get the exhaust. no matter which one you get, they'll both sound exactly the same. however, there are myths about adding parts that will get you better gas mileage, this is not always true. the reason is, if there is an increase in hp, there will be a drop in mpg because the higher the hp, the more fuel a car must consume.

honestly, go to a scion xb forum and ask/look around. there are tons of people on that site that are very knowledgeable and can help you out. there are also vendors on there that sell aftermarket parts that may be cheaper than if you bought them elsewhere.
