should prize money be the same for both men and women in sports? in tennis, men are usually paid more than women in grand slams. the argument is that men play more sets so deserve the bigger prize. men are natuarally stronger than women and can run faster i.e. 100 metre race. should prize money be equal?

  1. I think it's reasonable that men should get bigger prizes if they are actually doing more than the women are.

  2. Not if women bring in less money. But I don't see why women should play less sets than men. That's stupid.

  3. If the competitions become equal, so should the prizes. And on that note, I think all athletes deserve a serious pay cut.

  4. Ä° say that if women start playing the same amount of sets then the prize money should definantly be equal for unless they do they have not earned a larger prize money. As for ability, we have a lot of ability, but our biologies are still different and so a women shouldn't be discriminated against just because of her biological ability. Effort and talent and pure love for the game is what makes a sports person great... not how much strength ability you have because of your s*x hormones, if that makes sense. So when they play the same number of sets and such... then the prize money should definantly be equal.

  5. I think in principle it should be equal, but the reality is that the prize money probably comes from sponsors who only care about how many people are watching.

So women get paid less not because of different abilities, but because people are less interested in watching women's sports.

  6. This is not an issue of equality...it is an issue of the price the market will bear.

Professional sports is big business, looking to maximize profit, just like the oil companies.

  7. Male professional athletes get paid more because they generate far more revenue. It is that simple. Feminists who complain about gender inequaty at the level of professional sports are morons who have no intellectual credibility whatsoever.

  8. Simply put, the better athletes draw in larger crowds, bringing in more revenue, thereby earning a higher reward.
