Spot Fine favourite for Bavaria Beer Maiden Hurdle
Spot Fine has won the best odds for winning the Bavaria Beer Maiden Hurdle at Thurles in Ireland on Tuesday, April 3, 2012. The winner of the 2 mile long race will walk away with a cash prize of €5,520.
Going will be good in the race, which is scheduled to start at 5:15 GMT. Coral Creek will miss out today, as she has suffered an injury. She was in decent form and could have made a solid impression, but her trainer, S. Slevin, will be extremely disappointed
with the setback.
Following are the runners, who will be seen in action today: Spot Fine, Old Laxey, Super Sonic Boom, Prince Chaparral, Blue Bicycle, Great Span, Opening Nite, Itdosnot Botherme, Grey Bunting, Bright Light City, Reggae Rock, Ava Danny, Asktheyank, Courtncatcher,
Joe The Rogue, Sarwin and Vickie.
In the absence of Coral Creek, Spot Fine has been rated as favourite by the bookmakers and the punters will also be placing a lot of bets in his favour. He has never won any race over hurdles, but has a very good chance today.
The six-year-old gelding has taken part in five hurdles until now and the best he could manage was runner up spot in a couple of races. His recent form has been good, thus the momentum will be on his side.
M. F. Morris’ trainee will be partnered by Andrew J. McNamara, who does not have a good record over hurdles, as he has managed to win just once. He has a poor strike rate and will need a special effort to finish on top of the table.
The bookies have also shown faith in the abilities of Super Sonic Boom, who is yet to win his first race over hurdles. He has taken part in four of such events, but failed to make an impression even once.
The five-year-old gelding managed to secure fourth place in his most recent race, thus he has found some rhythm. He is trained by veteran, W. P. Mullins, who will be expecting a solid show today.
Super Sonic Boom will be ridden by one of the best jockeys in the business, Ruby Walsh, who has won 155 hurdles at a spectacular strike rate.
Prince Chaparral, Blue Bicycle, Great Span, Opening Nite and Itdosnot Botherme will also be the ones to watch out for at Thurles.
