yesterday all of a sudden I have this spot in the corner of my eye, it feels like I was starting into a light but I wasn't you know those spots you get after staring into the sun or a flashlight? like that and it's coming out of the corner of my left eye. what could this be? also it seems like when I go near brighter light the spot turns blue and when I turn off the light the spot turns orange. and today it's gotten better like the spot itself is smaller and a little lighter but it's still there.

any idea of what this could be??

i'm 18.

  1. Spots in the vision that are not shadows (black spots/floaters) and are light or light sensitive are usually Retina related.

The Retina is a thin layer in the back of the eye that, in short, helps transform light into electrical impulses to the brain.

It sounds like a) you've either "burned" your retina, like you said, with the sun or flashlight (but I imagine you would have remembered if someone took your picture witha flash camera an inch from your eye, or b) there is some type of retinal problem that should be diagnosed and/or looked at by an Optometrist first.

If the Optometris finds something s/he will either treat it or refer you to a retinal specialist (optholmologist) for further diagnosis or treatment.

It's darn near impossible to diagnos anything in the eye without seeing the eye itself. Many things can have the same symptoms so a good look on the inside is usually the best determination.

    Good luck.

(ps, do not go to a family practicioner, go to an EYE Doc.)
