  1. Tempest gave you the best answer by using the info that i got, from the link tempest posted i have been successfully bred these beutiful little pythons for a few years now.

  2. Hi, excellent choices for a python might I add! =) All are very similar in size, temperament and husbandry needs, so its really up to you which one you prefer looks wise.

I myself have a pair of blonde spotteds and am very happy with them, they eat well and aren't snappy at all. However lots of hatchlings can be but they usually calm down very quickly, and with their tiny size a bite is merely a feather tickle!

Childrens (antaresia childreni) : average at about 3ft when fully grown. Patterns will fade dramatically as the python matures.

Spotted (antaresia maculosa) : do generally get a bit larger than the others, some animals getting to about 4ft. They have larger, bolder patterns than the childrens which don't fade. There is the normal 'wild' type colouring to choose from or the more attractive in my opinion, 'blonde' phase animals.

Stimsons (antaresia stimsoni) : also average about 3ft when fully grown. These animals tend to have the most bold markings throughout their lives depending on locality. Animals originating from Western Australia are often called the most beautiful of stimsons - often being patterned in very bright reds oranges and yellows. Northern Territory or South Australian animals are generally a brown / red with smaller blotching.

As I said totally up to you as they are all similar with their requirements, the only thing id suggest is if getting a hatchling, make sure it has a proven feeding record before bringing it home.

If you want more on the specifics of housing etc, heres a caresheet that can be used for all three species :

Or you can contact me via email with any questions and I will get back to personally. Good luck and have fun! Beware, they are addicting. =)
