Question:

Spouse/Family Class Loopholes?

I am American and my wife is Canadian. We have been married for 1 1/2 years and I was living in Canada as a temporary resident for that time. We now have a 4 month old baby and I have had to move to Washington State so that I can legally work and save enough money so that I can apply for permanent residency. I also have a wonderful step-daughter with my wife. We are trying to figure out if there are any loopholes that will get me permanent resident status any faster than the normal process of applying with my wife sponsoring me. Does having kids together help? Is there anything we/I can do to make the process go faster than normal? Any info or help would be appreciated.

  1. You can already apply if your wfe's earnings are enough to support you.

    Kids don't make any difference.

I assume that your present plann is for your wife to sponsor you as a skilled or professional worker?

Canadian immigration is based on a points system. If you have enough money and good enough skills, you can apply on your own and don't need a sponsor.

You need to look carefully at the Canadian Government immigration site, because you are the only one that knows the basis of you possible immigration into Canada, as you have not mentioned much here..
