Spouse on unemployment?

If my spouse is on unemployment and I get a job will he get kicked off of unemployment.

  1. No, it is based on whether or not he is working.

    You could make 200k a year and it would not affect his case at all.

    I am on unemployment now and my husband works.

    It is best if he applies as soon as possible.


  2. No, unemployment eligibility is based on the individual, not the household.  Welfare-type programs are generally based on the family income, but not programs you've paid into like social security retirement or unemployment comp.

    but it's only good for 26 weeks anyway, so hopefully he's job hunting--it is a requirement of collecting unemployment
