I sprained my finger 2 1/2 weeks ago but I kept playing basketball. I know that it is sprained and not broken. It was healing but I decided to play basketball recently with friends and it broke again. It was my pinky finger. I'm going to stop playing basketball but I was wondering how to keep my skill in basketball like watching videos of it. Can someone tell me so ideas because my doctor said don't play anymore basketball for now.

How can I still be good in basketball like watching videos?

Also what are some things I can do to make my pinky heal faster like getting a small hard ball and squeezing it?

I already iced it and I will take Tylenol if needed.

  1. Look at nba fundamental videos. Also you can try and crack it while you rub it with vicks vabro rub. Warm is better after icing

  2. lol dont listen to da doctor ... i kno lots of people who play wit broke or injured fingers ... Kobe... and lots of people i play wit if they got one of then silver and blue things on it u should stil be able to play ...

STUFF GUYS DONT WEAR PINK THEY PLAY BALL WIT A BROKE FINGER

  3. Your finger does not take that much time to heal, so you wont like lose any basketball skills, just relax, and try icy hot.

  4. i don't think you can get better by just watching videos, you need to go out and practice.

you should just rest and let your finger heal, then go back to the courts, with enough practice, you'll regain your skills in no time.

or, if you can't wait, play a bit with one hand, and improve that hand's dribbling and shooting skills.

  5. I was wondering if this was a question hating on Kobe Bryant.

  6. Try playing basketball video games?

  7. a tennis ball to squeeze. you can exercise like jogging, leg exercises at the gym n sprints 2 keep ur wind up. once your able to get the splint off practice moving it around like you normally did. you want to regain your previously flexibility. don't want it to end up stiff as h**l. pinky rehab. just moving it around back n forth, side to side, and making a fist should do. if u was a decent player your shot wont disappear while you healing ya pinky. i couldn't shoot 4 a year due to a knee injury but after a few shots once i was able to ball again i show was better than average. wasn't like it used to be but its not like i had to learn all over again to shoot. just some practice to fine tune in n knock the rust of n get use to shooting alot again. awakening the muscles. i would just rest, don't wanna risk a further setback. drink ya milk n take ur calcium to help the bone healing process. after your heal just go to the court n do what u do, it will come back sooner than you think. go to you tube n watch drills of Ray Allen's jump shootin, drills, Cassell's mid range game play drills n Pistol Pete's dribbling drills to help past the time n get you some ideas once your fully healed up.

  8. You can watch basketball tapes, shoot the ball a little bit, without using your pinky

  9. i prefer you watch vintage videos of mj when your at home..

also jogging would be nice so that you'll increase you stamina..

    i hope it helps you...

  10. You'll be fine in a couple weeks. I play basketball with sprained fingers/broken non-shooting hand fingers all the time. But it's near impossible when it's your shooting hand lol.

But yeah, someone said that you won't lose any skills. They're right. But you should run, lift weights, do sit-ups, etc.

If you're looking to get better as a basketball mind, read anything by Red Auerbach. The man is the greatest basketball mind in the world. Or read books about older players...Wilt, Russell, Cousy, Maravich...you get into their mental state and it's really interesting...it helped me play because when I read about Bill Russell, I read how he did certain things. I altered my game like his and I did good. Obviously not Bill Russell good...but better.

And NBA TV shows some Red Auerbach videos. I think it's Basketball with Red or something. You could probably find them on YouTube. They're helpful.

  11. i had the same problem. wat i did was get a light weight ball and tried to shoot for a little bit, but not to much when it hurts u
