Question:

Sprained ankle, how long should i rest it?

i sprained my ankle today in gymnastics at school (doctor has told me its sprained but was in a hurry and didn't tell me much)when i was doing a cartwheel and got it bandaged and had some ice on it.... Is there anything i can do to help it heal?

but mainly i wanted to know how long i should not do gymnastics for?

i am not usually the greatest at sport but have actually been doing pretty well at this, or at least i've tried harder then most of the people in my class... anyway i've put allot of work into improving and i'll be really upset if i can't even do the assessment!

and i can't rest my leg allot because i have to go to school and i go to a big school with ALOT of stairs...any suggestions?

  1. Easy, I have weak ankles so they get sprained all the time. All you have to do is Ice it for 15 minutes. After that put a brace on or an ACE bandage, or just wrap it up. It should be good after that, depending how bad the sprain is. So what youre doing right now is good. Other things that help are tylenol or motrin, they reduce the pain and bring the swelling down. And if worse comes to worse, you can just grin and bear it.


  2. Just get an ankle brace for support, Two years ago at basketball camp i fell hard on my ankle and sprained it really bad. And it was the 3 game out of 14 so the rest of the week i had to just count on my basketball shoes [and I'm a dancer so yea it sucked], and now i have a bad ankle.

    You just really need to support your ankle at school and when your at home put your ankle up on a big stack of pillows and put ice on it=]

    Now for how long.... If it is like extremely bad like how my ankle was then maybe you should go to your doctor and see what he/she says.. If your parents wont take you i suggest 4-6 days without doing gymnastics. I know it sucks but you dont wanna s***w up your ankle.

  3. you need to put ice on it 15 mins on 15 mins of. for about 1 week.

    ive sprained my ankle about 7 times. the more you rest and do the ice thing the quicker it will heal
