Sprained ankle: WR Antonio Brown doubtful for Pittsburgh Steelers vs Kansas City Chiefs – NFL News
Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin wants to leave wide receiver Antonio Brown’s recovery from a sprained ankle for assessment later in the week to determine if he is able to play but independently some reports have suggested that the players is out of
the next game.
The Steelers will host the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday (Nov. 12) and some media sections claimed Brown is out of contention for selection in the team for the tie.
Tomlin said he wanted to see how the week would progress. He said:
"We'll see where the week takes us, we'll leave the door ajar but usually (sprained ankles) aren't positive things, particularly for someone who earns a living the way he earns a living."
With the possibility still wide open, as insisted by the coach, Brown’s absence is looming large and if it happens, wideout Emmanuel Sanders is expected to replace the injured player.
The official has acknowledged the seriousness of the ankle injuries, especially the fact that they are not so predictable and their recovery not so traceable, but he has refrained from ruling the player out.
Brown himself has not disclosed the latest status of his recovery. In general, sprained ankle requires at least a couple of weeks for complete healing.
Tomlin had almost a similar view about the recovery status of other players, a majority of them running backs. He said they were day-to-day. According to him:
"Whoever's being productive when healthy is going to get the totes. I really think it's that simple. I'm not going to make it any more complex than it has to be. At times this season we've had a running-back-by-committee approach because none of them had
been overly effective at that time. When someone's effective, they'll get the ball."
After making a slow start to the season, the Steelers have started to get back on the winning ways, and these injuries do not bode well with their aims of continuing the momentum. They are still behind AFC North rivals Baltimore Ravens and must not lose
more games.
