I am looking to open a new spread betting account and have been thinking about joining I.G. Index.

Does anyone have any experience of I.G. index? Are you happy with their charges and service?

Any help would be appreciated.

  1. IG Index are fine, good support and good platform.

They have good spreads for index spread betting (though not as tight as Capital Spreads) but wider spreads and largish margin requirements for stocks, an advantage is that the platform is wholly online so there's no platform to download and you can access it from anywhere.

Read a full review of IG Index here http://www.financial-spread-betting.com/...

Alternatively you might want to try Capital Spreads.  If you haven't opened your account already you can get a GBP70 extra credit by signing up from the link at www.financial-spread-betting.com - but take note that Capital Spreads is best used for FTSE spread betting as they offer a a nice 1-pip FTSE spread.  Of course the spreads should not be your only consideration - you may also need quick execution if you're a scalper

  2. I have been using IG index for 12 months and I have other accounts with CMC, Etrade & Cantor. I find IG index's trading platform suits all of my needs, their charges and spreads are certainly better than most.

If you are new to spreadbetting they also offer some good basic training and support.

Always a good idea to open more than 1 account though

  3. You have just got to be careful with the spreads. Don't forget they quote their own prices, NOT market prices. Make sure you know ALL the rules before dealing. Like stop losses, margin requirement, expiry dates etc. Start of slowly. Also sometimes they suspend the internet dealing and you have to phone up, so be prepared. Otherwise they are OK.

If you start why not write an article on your experiences? I might be interested http://www.shareworld.co.uk

  4. When I got into spread betting, I first used an account with CMC but I didn't like their platform nor the fact that you had to fill out a form in order to get money out of the CMC account. So I tried IG and have not looked back since. The only issue I have with the platform is that, for example you make a trade of 10 pounds and then you want to get out. But you only want to get out 8 pounds of the trade and keep 2 pounds running. IG doesn't have the facility to do this. Just a slight concern, but on the whole, a good platform, able to use anywhere and easy service. No hassle, easy trading and no fees.
