Spring Grove defeats Northeastern Bobcats boys’ volleyball team on Wednesday
Spring Grove has proved yet again that it is not the rank that is attached to the team name but it is the motivation and determination that a team brings onto the courts that leads it to win a match.
Spring Grove was in contest with the Northeastern Bobcats boys’ volleyball team on Wednesday. After a thrilling game that went on to five long and exciting sets, the Rockets were able to defeat the Bobcats in a well-earned victory. The team that Spring Groove
was able to defeat has the honour of being the number one team in the Class AA groupings.
By the time that the night was out and the Rockets were reaping the fruits of their hard work while the Bobcats were trying to come out of the shock of defeat, the scoreboard read 25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 14-25 and 15-10.
With their recent win, the Rockets have been able to tally a total of 12 victories in this season so far. They have been able to accomplish these wins at the cost of suffering losses that amount to be one up till now. The performance statistics of the Rockets
in the York-Adams League are also something to be proud of. They have registered a total of 10 victories. These wins have been secured at the cost of incurring just one loss in league play.
In contrast to the performance statistics of the Rockets, the Bobcats also have commendable records under their belt as well. They too have been able to tally a total of 12 wins in the overall season. These have been achieved at the expense of undergoing
only a single defeat.
In league play, the Bobcats have been able to earn themselves the credit of victory a total number of nine times. These wins have been accomplished at the cost of suffering one loss.
When the first set of the game started, the Rockets took time coming into form. As a result, the Bobcats were able to take the lead for themselves. Once they had the lead, the Bobcats were able to extend their advantage to 16-10. After this point, the Rockets
pulled up their game and put on a spurt of speed that led them to win the first set of the game at 25-23.
The second set of the match went along similar lines as well. The Rockets found themselves at an even bigger deficit at 20-13. However, they did not let the disadvantage shake their motivation and were able to step up their game once again. The Rockets won
the second set at 25-23. After suffering losses in the third and the fourth games, the Rockets sealed the deal on the final set of the match.
“It was tough being down,” Mark Neal, the coach of Spring Groove said. “But our kids showed resiliency and the fought through it.”
