Spring Lane to prevail in the One Day At A Time INH Flat Race at Downpatrick
Spring Lane is likely to create a buzz at Downpatrick as he will be competing in the One Day At A Time INH Flat Race, on 7th March, 2012.
The 6-year-old gelding will be competing in the 2 mile, 2 furlong and 50 yard track for €4,830 with 8 other competitors.
Other runners in this race are:
Ablator,
Dia Dhuit,
Finish The Story,
Sceptre and Crown,
The Two MC’s,
Yathinkyaknowitall,
Game Or Salmon, and
Silverbeach Lady.
Trained by Gordon Elliot, Spring Lane has been going through work-outs and exercises to improve his form. He has been performing right up to the mark, as he has shown a massive degree of improvement.
The son of Exit To Nowhere, out of Arts Theatre may not have a lot of experience, but his recent finish as a runner-up has put him in the conversation.
He was defeated by a neck’s margin by the race favourite, Bhakti. In the We Race Again On March 7th Maiden National Hunt Flat Race Conditional Jockeys’ and Amateur Riders on 28th February, 2012, at Catterick.
He was going at a steady pace as he chased the leader throughout, but was beaten in the final furlong.
Ablator may prove to be a hindrance if, Spring Lane, is aiming for the gold. Trained by Paul Nolan, the 6-year-old gelding is not as experienced as the other runners.
The son of Oscar, out of Ace Ciel, showed promise as he finished third in his career debut. His connections are hoping that he will improve in the next race.
He was defeated by Starkie, who finished first, and Peking To Paris, who finished 16 lengths adrift of the third place finisher. The difference was massive, but his performance was still worth the applause.
He tracked the pace early on in the race, and settled in third with 4 furlongs to go, but jockey B O’Neill despite a strong left hand urging couldn’t do much more with the horse as he finished third on the day.
In this race, his connections, especially his owners, Graiglore Fram Partnership are hoping that he will bring enough to the table to claim victory.
K. Heffernan trained 6-year-old gelding, Finish the Story, is exiting a dismal eighth in his last race, after finish on the money in third in his penultimate race, but finished way behind the leader lagging a staggering 37 lengths.
His 3rd place finish was at Leopardstown, in the Follow Leopardstown On Facebook Pro-Am INH Flat Race, on 29th January, 2012.
The wide difference may seem to be slightly discouraging but the 6-year-old gelding was prominent in this race as he entered straight with a will to defeat the other contenders.
K.A. Heffernan, is hoping that the son of Court Cave, out of Lady Of Grange, will race with the same fervour and land himself the One Day At A Time INH Flat Race.
He finished 8th at Thurles, in the Munster INH Flat Race, on 23rd February, 2012, showing determination as he tracked leaders, but was driven out and left behind with 7 furlongs remaining.
This race will be a career debut for Game Or Salmon and Silverbeach Lady.
As most of these runners lack experience, it is difficult to say who would take the lead, but Spring Lane, Ablator and Finish The Story look in good shape to claim placed positions.
