Spring break in Puerto Vallarta or Playa Del Carmen?

Senior spring break, 4 girls we'll all be 18 and looking to go to clubs and bars. Which spring break destination has a lot of 18-21 year olds participating in nightlife? Which one is safer? Cleaner? More expensive?

What would be your pick? Any hotel recommendations?

Puerto Vallarta is overrated.

Playa Del Carmen is better for you gals.

Esp the Mayan Riviera resorts. expensive but safe-ish.
