Springboks’ player Francois Steyn to miss All Blacks test – Rugby news
The Springboks side has received another blow before their last encounter of Tri-Nations Cup against All Blacks as their full-back Francois Steyn has been declared unfit to participate in the match due a hamstring injury.
Springboks are taking on the All Blacks in Port Elizabeth on August 20 in their last match of Tri-Nations Cup 2011. Steyn sustained the injury during their previous match against Wallabies on August 13 in Durban. The Boks management told the media on August
16 that injured Steyn will be replaced Pat Lambie in their upcoming test against All Blacks.
They have produced a poor performance in the so far played matches of the ongoing event and have yet to taste the victory after three outgoings. The Boks have been disturbed by huge injuries during the whole tournament and have displayed their worst ever
performance in the history of Tri-Nations.
The Boks lost early two matches of Tri-Nations due to the absence of their key players by massive differences. Their 21 frontline players were missing from their line-ups after a devastating season of Super Rugby. The Springboks become a competent side with
the return of their nine seasoned players for their third match of the tournament against Wallabies but yet again, they deprived of the victory by a narrow margin of 14-9.
Springboks coach Peter de Villiers expressed his disappointment over the fresh injury to his player. Talking about their upcoming clash against All Blacks he said that, “We are blessed to have hookers of the quality of John and Bismarck, and while John was
the right call for the Wallabies, maybe we will make a different call for the particular circumstances this weekend.”
The coach also has not come out of their shock defeat by the Wallabies on August 13. Talking about their last rout De Villiers said that, “We weren't happy with defeat against Australia but we did a lot of things right, small things we've really been working
hard on, and that was good to see. This weekend we have to be even better in our execution.”
Boks and All Blacks will stand toe-to-toe on August 20 in Port of Elizabeth in their upcoming clash of Tri-Nations Cup 2011.
