  1. Yes, and so it the Smith&Wesson M&P. They are very similar, see which you like best. These two came out at similar times, and it's a Ford vs. Chevy thing.

Honestly, even though I love my M&P, I would recommend the XD to you. Since you're in California, and won't be carrying it, there's no real advantage to you in the M&P compact, and the XD compact has a safety on it. Important if you're going to keep it loaded for home defense.

  2. The XD is a good gun.  Go ahead and get one, then vote out all the goofy CA gun haters then you will be able to get the hi-cap mags for it.

  3. yes, I expect XD to replace glocks as the most common gun in the next few years, it is a very fine product

  4. Great buy...I own a 9mm and a .45 XD and love them. Smooth shooting, reliable, comfort, and great price.

    Great Choice.

  5. I own all three.

I prefer the 5" model at the range, then the 4" and never choose the compact model while at the range plinking.

If you are going to be using this as a concealed carry - you will love the compact model.  If you plan on making this your range and plinking firearm - you will want to move to the larger service or tactical model.

  6. Personally, I would go for the XD 40 since it is a very common round.  I am planning on getting the XD 9 cause the GLOCK 22 get a little expensive to shoot.

To answer the guy that think XD may replace the GLOCK, I don't think so.  Person like myself would get another gun but would not replace the one I had.

  7. very good buy...its a quality gun, and has nice balance for a compact .45....
